Teacup Candles
This Christmas I was looking new gift ideas. I love to give thoughtful gifts, and even better are ones that I have handcrafted myself. I also wanted to give gifts that someone would actually be able to use and enjoy- not just collect in a corner of their homes. So, I was excited to find this idea from Martha Stewart: http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/gifts-for-her?#slide_34
What I really liked about this is that you could re-use items, what a great way to re-purpose old dishes. I went to my local Goodwill (and luckily hit the half-off day!) and bought a variety of teacups. I was able to find a cute yellow set, and then a few more delicate teacups with saucers.
I then did some research on how to actually make candles! This was my first time trying it out, and surprisingly, it was easier than I thought it might be. I used soy wax and purchased a pour pot which I used with a pot I already had to create a double boiler. I also made sure to get a thermometer to keep the wax at the right temperature. I bought liquid scents and used vanilla for these candles.
Overall, I think they turned out pretty well and I would definitely make more in the future.
