UT Pendants

This is the first of a series of posts with pictures of glass pendants I have created. I'll kick things off with a few Tennessee themed pendants - orange of course! Each glass pendant comes with a silver bail attached (shown in 3rd photo) for necklaces.

Stay tuned for more!

Baby Gifts: Owls!

These are gifts I made for a good friend's baby shower. I went with an owl theme and created a small decorative box out of a wooden crate and wooden owl silhouette. I painted this in the colors of her nursery. I also used an unfinished photo frame to add a paper owl cut using a Cricut.

Teacup Candles

This Christmas I was looking new gift ideas. I love to give thoughtful gifts, and even better are ones that I have handcrafted myself. I also wanted to give gifts that someone would actually be able to use and enjoy- not just collect in a corner of their homes. So, I was excited to find this idea from Martha Stewart: http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/gifts-for-her?#slide_34

What I really liked about this is that you could re-use items, what a great way to re-purpose old dishes. I went to my local Goodwill (and luckily hit the half-off day!) and bought a variety of teacups. I was able to find a cute yellow set, and then a few more delicate teacups with saucers.

I then did some research on how to actually make candles! This was my first time trying it out, and surprisingly, it was easier than I thought it might be. I used soy wax and purchased a pour pot which I used with a pot I already had to create a double boiler. I also made sure to get a thermometer to keep the wax at the right temperature. I bought liquid scents and used vanilla for these candles.

Overall, I think they turned out pretty well and I would definitely make more in the future.

New Blog!

This blog will be used to share my recent, and past, craft projects with anyone who might be interested. Through the years I have tried a variety of different types of projects, the majority for my own use or as gifts. Lately, I have found others to be interested in items I can create so this seemed like a great way to showcase those. Feel free to contact me if you are ever interested in learning more about my items or to purchase any for yourself or gifts!
